Ways to improve in the English language

  1. Reading
  • Reading books and novels can help quicken the process of learning new vocabulary, improve grammar and level up your writing skills.
  • Read every day even if it is for 10-15 minutes. Building a reading habit is important not only to learn grammar rules, sentences formations, punctuation and new vocabulary but also to gain deeper knowledge on topics you read about.
  • Pay attention while reading slowly instead of just skimming through the pages.
  • Look up difficult vocabulary and phrases and try to use them in your daily life. That way you will be able to retain the memory for longer periods of time.
  • Reading also helps improve both your speaking and writing skills.
  1. Writing
  • Writing will help you understand and learn the very basics of grammar, punctuation and vocabulary.
  • It will also help you write the sentences and paragraphs in correct formats.
  • It also helps you develop your own style of writing by infusing your personality.
  • Keeping a daily journal is one of the best ways to practice writing.
  1. Speaking and Listening
  • Reading out loud improves your pronunciation and fluency.
  • Try and speak in English as much as you can because the best and the fastest way to learn any language is to speak it. This way you will get more used to it and will be able to pronounce words, speak sentences and paragraphs with ease and clarity in your voice.
  • Speaking helps build your communication skills as well as boosts your confidence to speak in front of even larger groups of people.
  • As important it is to speak the language, listening is equally important too. Listening to others speak English can help you learn about the different styles/accents, tones of speaking and sounds.
  • Listening is also a good way to healthy communication and build personal and professional relationships.
  • Listening to English will also help you understand grammar on a deeper level and will build a strong base.
